Recent movement

No change in this bank's TT Selling rates between its two most recent published sheets, for the currencies above. Where the archive holds only one sheet from a bank there is nothing to compare against yet.

How this sheet is collected

Standard Chartered is the one sheet here that is published as a picture. The PDF contains a single bitmap and no text layer at all — extracting text from the document returns fifteen characters, none of them numbers. So this bank cannot be parsed the way the others are; the page is rendered and read by optical character recognition.

OCR fails quietly, which is the problem with it: in testing a single pass turned 98.05 into 93.05 and 121.23 into 121.25 — figures that look entirely reasonable and are wrong. Every value here is therefore read six times, at three resolutions and two page-segmentation modes, and is only published when at least four of the six agree on it exactly. Where they disagree the figure is left blank rather than guessed, and each one is checked against the official reference rate before it is shown.

The sheet itself is headed India Treasury Counter Rates and behaves differently from the others. Its TT and bill rates are one combined set — the bank states the same figures apply to both — and its currency-note rates cover six currencies with values identical to the TT figures. There is no forex-card column, and no transaction band: SCB says its card rates apply irrespective of the amount. Expect a much wider spread than the treasury sheets, because these are counter rates. Like HDFC, it quotes the yen, won and baht per single unit rather than per hundred.

Figures are read from the sheet Standard Chartered Bank publishes, so every number here can be checked at source. The method for every bank is set out on the about page, and what each column means is on the reading guide.

Other banks

Indicative rates, as Standard Chartered Bank states on its own sheet: the rate applied is the one prevailing when an account is debited or credited. See also fees, GST and TCS.
